Beyond words
What exists beyond words? The image, I would like to say – the pure image, relieved of all useless verbiage: image-magic (the French for which is 'image-magie' – a pleasing anagram).
In the exhibition of the same name (2004) as well as the examples illustrated here, I am playing with a subject that intrigues and inspires me: the dazzling alchemy of words and images, their constantly extraordinary fusion.
And what exists beyond the realms of words and images? Is it perhaps the place of pure creation (in its primordial state), the place where the irrational, the incongruous and the marvellous are hidden away, the opposite of a logical, rational setting, in short: poetry? I certainly hope so!
